Social Media Networks like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and etc are becoming a part of the Netizen’s life. Sharing links across social media networks are popular. But use caution when you click those links cause those links might be a lead to a security flaws. You can check the links tag on an image by pointing your mouse pointer on that image and look at your browser’s status bar which is at the bottom(in most browser).

To break your account security, they will search for the answer to your security questions, such as your birthday, hometown, high school class, father’s name, mother’s name and etc., on your social media network. If the site allows that kind of recovery option, make up your own security questions, and don’t draw them from any material that quick search could find.

Think of the possibility that the account of your friend might be hacked. Hacker may use other victim to target a new victim. So be careful of your friends messages, be cautious and make sure that you are really exchanging information with friends.

Type the address of the social media directly to your browser and don’t login to a third party site. As this might be a Phishing or a fake site trying to copy your account information such as your username and Password.

You may consider viewing the profile first and check for mutual friends before accepting the request. Hacker may use a fake identity in order to get information from you.

Knowing the site carefully and understanding the privacy policy is the best way to avoid security flaws. Always check your setting and make sure you know who you are sharing information with.

Once you put something on the internet it will become permanent. Even if you can delete your account, someone could make a copy and share it.
